Fabric Steals

Mr. Sabbe is trying to make me watch a documentary on the Smokey Mountains. I am pretending to watch while I swoon over these great deals {multi-tasking}...

Photobucket
$9.95/yard

Photobucket
$14.95/yard

Photobucket
$8.95/yard

Photobucket
$6.95/yard

Photobucket
$17.95/yard...I'm pondering whether this would be a good companion to this? It's so hard to tell on the monitor.

Photobucket
$9.95/yard

Photobucket
$9.95/yard

Photobucket
$15.95/yard

Photobucket
$15.95/yard...a 1/2 of yard of this is so mine and if that half of yard does not include the deer, I am going to be one unhappy customer.
Go check out http://www.buyfabric.com/ and while you're there tell them to iron their swatches before they put them on the internet.

Acceptable

Today is my birthday and this is my favorite Facebook comment:

The following people wish you a happy birthday: Chester Copperpot, Chunk, Data, Mikey, Mouth, and me. That's all the names I can remember from the best movie in the history of mankind.

My friend Jessica started a game where we sit around with someone's iPhone/Blackberry and read aloud comments that people post on Facebook. We then vote "acceptable" or "unacceptable."

It's pretty much the most fun game ever.

Bad Day

Unfortunately it wasn't a hair issue.

Ruffle Duvet

Photobucket

Back to this ruffle fabric that I'm dying for someone to do something with. For $4/yard, someone in Boston needs it. Today I was in Anthropologie and saw this duvet cover.

Photobucket

So similar! Do it, Do it, Do it.

Photobucket

And take a picture and blog about it when you do.

Honest Scrap

LindsB at everythingLEB, one of my most faaaavorite Boston bloggers, gave me this scarp award. As she said, I'm not sure what it means, but it's fun.

Here are the rules I must follow, upon receiving this award:
1. Say thanks and give a link to the presenter of the award. (check)
2. Share “10 Honest Things” about myself.
3. Present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.

1. I have wanted to be an Interior Designer since the second grade.
2. I became a Christian in the fourth grade. I also asked out a boy on a "check yes or no" note that year. The Lord said yes, the boy said no.
3. My first car was a Chevy Blazer. And in it, I thought I was the coolest thing ever.
4. I pledged Phi Mu at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I was voted "Funniest Phi".
5. I dumped my hometown boyfriend the third week of college. He deserved it.
6. My sophomore year, after dumping another boy who deserved it, I asked out Mr. Sabbe on his answering machine. Take notes ladies, that's how you get a man.
7. I LOVE feta, and olives, and banana peppers.
8. As a child I LOVED the smell of gasoline, I know...it's all adding up. I have a journal from the third grade where I drew a picture of myself holding the gas pump to my nose with the caption "MMMMM...."
9. I married the boy I asked out on an answering machine in the summer of 2006.
10. Zoe (the cat) has a dress. I did not buy it, but it sure does make us laugh. She only wears it on school days.

I pass the award on to anyone who hasn't not done one yet. I am encouraged by every blog I read.

Happy Birthday Mr. Sabbe

Photobucket
For the next 5 days you are TWO whole years older than me. Cradle robber.
T-minus 365 days until the big 3-0!
I will start planning your Super Sweet party today. MTV will probably want to get in on it.
P.S. The sweet and very talented Juliann over at CreateGirl is showing off my dining room today if you want to take a peek.

New Pillow

Photobucket

I made this pillow a couple of weeks ag0 (fabric $9/yard at Windmill) It only took 1/4 a yard. I am loving this mustard color these days. I would love a big, knit sweater this color...but my hair is orange. It would clash.

Update: Per Emily's request. Here is my pillow's fancy friend.

Photobucket

And I am going to blog better about it later, but this one, this one, this one, and this one are no longer just my blog friends, they are real friends. Blogging is so online dating for girls. I mean, if you think about it, don't you want to be best friends with this one, this one, and this one?

Yes. You. Do

I do too.

Sew Low

In my never ending search to find a great fabric store in Boston, I headed out to the Sew Low last Friday. It was an interesting experience. If you like garage selling, thrift store shopping, or treasure hunts, you may actually enjoy shopping at this store. I made about 3.5 laps. I had decided prior to my arrival that I was not going to leave empty handed. I found some nice grey wool and brown suedish material on the very bottom of a stack of fabric on the $2.99/yard table. It took some work to dig them out. I think they may have been the first to go on that table in the late 90's.

Somehow I ended up paying $4.99/yard. I pointed to the sign and said "oh, I got that from this table." Response: "It's wool" I wanted to reply that I knew no one had casually laid it on the table because it was under 25 other fabrics, but it was Friday and I was ready to go home.

Photobucket
I could find some use for these

Photobucket
And there were lots and lots of good solids to choose from

Photobucket
In real life I would never buy this fabric (stretchy = waaay to hard to sew for me) but the colors were pretty

Photobucket
I could find a fun craft for this green dot.
Now the lipstick kisses over the city grid...that might be a stretch.

Photobucket
This is also a VERY random fabric, but doesn't it have potential to be the most gorgeous drapes ever! I see pretty pillows too. Someone go buy it! It's in the massive row of fabric to the right when you walk in the store. NOTE: take a big, calming, deep breathe before you walk into the store.

Photobucket
And this was a pretty damask, only $4.99!!

Photobucket
I thought this would be usable in a girl's room. Bedskirt?
Is purple in or out right now? I can never keep up.

Photobucket
And this little corner had some usable goods. I think the most expensive in this grouping may be $6.99/yard.
Photobucket
So, despite the clutter and more clutter....there are some things to find in this store. And the prices are great. Just brace yourself, it's no Purl Soho.

SoWa

I finally made it over to SOWA yesterday!
At first glance I thought it was going to be just another cute little craft fair, but after making it through a couple booths I realized it also has a HUGE area for antiques.
Crafts + Vintage Clothing + Antique everthing = I thought I had died an gone to heaven. Literally, I had that feeling you get as a child when you first enter the Magic Kingdom.
Photobucket
These bags were my favorite. So clever. Who knew hand stamping an old grandma bag could make it so cool again.
Photobucket

Shara Porter
These bags were cute, and very well made. I was pretending to shop, while I took mental notes
Photobucket

I loooove gloves. I was born in the wrong era. Wouldn't these be neat framed individually, with a cute scrapbooking paper background, hung around a little girl's room?
Photobucket
I love some fun headbands right now.

Photobucket

This booth really made me want to learn to knit better, so cute.
These were made from old sweaters. Cute/green idea. G.
Photobucket
The selection of vintage clothing was amazing.
Artifaktori

Photobucket
Photobucket
If Mr. Sabbe were not a polo and khakis type of guy, he would totally be getting this tie for his
b-day!
Photobucket
or maybe this jacket
Photobucket
How awesome is this chair?!

Photobucket
And this one. I love anything with a scandinavian flair.
Photobucket
Mod and also awesome.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Love the molded plastic and the wood coffee table at this booth. The vendor was also really nice. I forgot to see if he had a website.
Photobucket
Traditional and gorgeous.
Photobucket
I loved these crate/box things. Wouldn't they be the coolest trays to sit on a large coffee table?

Photobucket
I have been searching for a cool umbrella holder to sit by our door. I liked this one.
Photobucket
And loved this one.
Photobucket
I want one of these one day. I'll sit it right next to a barcelona chair. The music from this one really set the vibe for the vintage scene.
Photobucket
These lamps were awesome. I think the pair was only like $100. Also from Studio Twenty Two.
Photobucket
Photobucket
These two have some definate wall collage potential.
Photobucket

My dining room table needs this wood bowl.
Photobucket
And my FAVORITE vendor of the whole day was Jeannie Gavrish of BlueTM.
How gorgeous are these handmade pillows!

Photobucket
Photobucket
And Jeannie had the sweetest personality. If you are looking for great quality, unique pillows, you should check out her shop.
Photobucket
My first trip to SOWA was so much fun. The best part was it was only 3 blocks from my house. I can't wait to go back!
