I'm a Mean Mama...

...but these rice teeth have to be seen by the world.

Have you ever!?

Sweet child of mine...I tell her everyone has a crazy family, why should she be different?

And I say she only has herself to blame....

Who wouldn't take this little pound purry home?!
Dandruff and all.

Today I...{ }

... have been reminded how much I love Feta
... vow to try and dress cool,
even if it looks like I'm trying too hard,
in hopes of one day crossing his path.
... am delighted to have found this blog, via this blog.
... wish my work was cool enough to be hunted.
... am pondering what I would really get out of this.
... am excited for my friend's Internet Soap Opera launch
..want to buy this book on Amazon
...am ready to go home and kiss this guy

Kiss the Cook

Tiff had another shower this weekend. I was good at the first one, I bought from the registry...this time I had to craft.

This was fun and easy. I'll definitely be making more. Oh...and the little trivets were fun too.

My Next Project

If you know me, you know I've had a weird fascination with deer heads for the past year. Don't know what it is? Perhaps my West Virginia roots. Anyhow, I'm totally making this my weekend craft project!....how is it only Monday?

Happy Weekend

"...accept my words and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding,
and if you call of for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come
knowledge and
understanding."
Proverbs 2: 1-6

Mini Cherry Pie Tutorial

Flower Power Cherry Pies

Preheat oven 350 degrees

Ingredients/tools:
2 packages of refrigerated pie crust{Pillsbury}
1 can cherry pie filling
1 egg white
1/4 cup sugar
Flour (for sprinkling on worksurface)
Cookie cutter
Wood or metal skewer

Sprinkle worksurface with flour and layout pie crust. Fold in half. Cut shapes.

Take a piece for the top and bottom side of your crust and add 1 spoon full of pie filling.

Place top and pinch together each petal with your fingers.

Take the skewer and poke holes in the top {like the center of a flower}
Brush with egg whites and sprinkle on sugar.
Bake until golden brown {about 12 minutes in my oven}
Recipe makes 20 pies.
I made another batch of these for a party I am going to tomorrow night so I thought I would post a little how-to. They are great for showers/parties because they are easy to pick up and don't leak all over your plate like a normal pie. I {heart} pie. The only difference with the heart version I did for the shower last week was that I used a fork to press the top to the bottom together. I'm going to make another batch soon for a baby shower I am hosting. I'm going to use my onesie cookie cutter and am hoping they look like a fat little baby belly....we'll see.

Say It Ain't So

They call it the Obese Eames...I cry, why, why would anyone do this?
Thank you my dear friend Laura for pointing this travesty out to me.

Best For Last

Am I the last person in the world to find this woman?!!...She came into my world last week and she happens to sing the soundtrack to my life. On the real version this whole choir background chimes in. Makes me feel like I'm front row at a good, southern {probably African American} church. Except it's not about church at all, but I just want to raise my hands and sway. I LOVE it! I didn't even watch the Grammy's, a friend gave me her CD. I think I've listened to the second track, Best for Last, 50 times today. I'm not exagerrating, I have a desk job. Must go now and push replay.

Enjoy!

Happy Valentines Day!

We had the pleasure of hosting a wedding shower today. We loved celebrating the day of love with all of our friends.

I made the little heart chandelier decorations from some scrap Michael Miller fabric. The turnovers below I've named Bleeding Heart Cherry Turnovers. They were yum.

I think I got my money's worth out of that cookie cutter.

Sweeter than the treats were the babies!

And here we have our bride and groom to be...

Have you ever seen such excitement over a rice cooker?!
Sweet girl, she's going to be a fantastic wife.

p.s. The winner of the Historic Photos of Memphis book is Christy over at the BonBon Boutique.
Thanks to everyone for sending in comments! We {heart} Memphis this Valentines.

Vandy Booties

Are feet ever really this small?

I made these for my friend Ellie. She had seen the UT booties I made for Baby Will and wanted a Vanderbilt pair for a friend of hers who just had a baby. I hardly ever take crafting commissions, but I was really in the mood to make some booties. I put the non-fraying fleece on the inside of these to make them extra cozy and the standard letters you can buy at the craft store worked great for their "V" logo. And again...I love rick rack.

I used my Caroline pattern. I'm going to make it a goal to make this into a easy to follow tutorial this year. Hold me to it.

Skinnamerinky Dinky Dinky

I...... love....... you.....The little bro and I had this one down pat.

Now I sing it to Mr. Sabbe, hand motions and all.

Happy Valentines Week! I hope you have plans to sing to somebody...and don't forget the hand motions.

Deep in Thought

I promise the photo shoot was about the interior design and not the Eames Lounge chair...but the chair almost stole the show. You know when you were a kid and you wanted your picture taken with your face in the plywood cut out? {wait, I still do that} Anyhow, that's how we all were with the chair. Everyone took their turn.
Bryan's is so funny. I will post later.
Thor is such a good photographer!

Photo Shoot

We had a photo shoot for one of my projects last night and look who was able to join us. I'll blog more about his event later and hopefully include some final photos of the space.

Share the LUV

I never do these "pass it on" type blogging things, mainly because I write my posts in like 2 minutes, barely pushing the spell check button....and they seem like a lot of work. But my sweet friend Marianne listed my blog on her list today so I felt like I should share the love... and it's almost valentines day! So there should be a lot of love sharing going on. I'm not sure why who ever started this spelled love LUV...that kind of weirds me out...but I'll keep it going....

To share the LUV, follow these instructions!
a. Put the logo on your blog or post. (You can highlight the photo and text of this post and copy/paste wherever you need to)
b. Nominate at least 10 blogs which show GREAT ATTITUDE and/or GRATITUDE
c. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
d. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
e. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received the award.

I have two categories. 1. Sweet friends and 2. Blogs I stalk and I'll use this post as a confession.

We'll start with the confession list:

Pink Picket Fence- because she has Miss America parties

say YES to Hoboken- because she makes Salt Lake City sound fun

Homemade by Jill- first blog I ever wanted to see daily

Thimbly Things- newest blog I want to see daily

Pioneer Woman- who doesn't stalk this blog? I want to be her when I grow up.

Sweet Friends

Wandering Lili- my number one blog reader

The Nave News- she's crafty and was waaaay cooler than me in college

BonBon Botique- probably has the biggest network of followers I've seen, and she's a southerner!

WendyLou-super mom, crafter and fellow church member

Kelly-the first major mommy of my group of college friends

Yeah! I did my first chain blog. Happy Thursday!

Homemade Invitations

I made these invites for a shower I'm co-hosting next weekend. I like sewing paper...very fun

Below are the supplies. Pretty simple. I got the cute envelopes and cardstock here. If you live in Memphis you should check that place out. I love fancy papers almost as much as fabrics and they have lots of cute {cheap} stuff to choose from.

I've come to the conclusion that I love handmade everything. Send me to Amish country...
I'm ready to go.

The Colors of Love

Ever wonder how your favorite dress would look as a paint palette for your house? Or how to capture your favorite photo and interpret it into your favorite room design? Big Huge Labs has a tool that will break down any photo into a series of pantone colors.

Here is a photo a friend took of Mr. Sabbe and I at the Memphis in May fireworks a couple years ago. I love this picture.

And here is it's pallete.

Funny how a photo I love so much makes such an ugly pallet. As nostalgic as I can be, I will not be painting my walls green kelp mixed with oriental pink any time soon. Maybe your favorite sweet moments make a prettier pallet. Give it a try! Wouldn't it be neat to have a room with such meaning..."oh, you like our living room color, it's actually the color of the sky the day my husband proposed to me" My clients and bosses are always asking for a strong design concepts...I think I've found a new tool.

Oranga Glad I Didn't Say Banana?

Anyone else relentlessly tell that joke as a child?

My friend Sheetal loves orange...she actually has a very cool personal style that even my husband has picked up on. She wears mostly black and will have one "accent" color. Her roomie recently painted her dining room orange for her, so I made her this apron to match.

It was my first attempt at covering my own buttons. I think I'm going to be making lots more. They have the kits at the fabric store, way easier than I was expecting. I used an apron my mom gave me for Christmas last year as my pattern. Easy craft. This would also be a good one for new sewers.
