Just kidding, but I did have a quote in the Memphis Commercial Appeal today. The lady who wrote the article called me last week and asked me some questions about why I promote and try to practice sustainable design in Memphis. I was for sure that what I said was going to sound totally stupid. I really need to keep little cue cards for these kinds of life situations...although to be thoroughly prepared I guess I would need to carry alot of cue cards.
But here it is the article-

Grandma Georgia's 75th!
My mom is emailing all of her friends, see below, with the goal of trying to get 75 birthday cards to my grandma Georgia in West Virginia. If anyone has a minute and a stamp, her address and stats are below. She's trying to get them from all over, so if you live in some cool state even better. And for all you crafters just looking for a reason to craft, here you go. Thanks! Oh and here's a picture, she's the hottie on the left.
As a special tribute to my Mother’s 75 Birthday on June 2, I am asking a favor from you. I am going to attempt to have 75 birthday cards mailed to her from different parts of the United States.
My Mother, like most moms, is an amazing woman. She raised her children on a farm in W.Va. which has been in her family for at least 5 generations. She was widowed at age 31, with 8 children, and never remarried. She has 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and never forgets to send a birthday card! Cards have always been very special to her and she takes the time to choose the perfect card. I know that she would be so surprised and delighted to receive these cards.

If you decide to help with this gift, which I will always appreciate, let her know how you know me, and be sure to include your name, home city and state.
Thank you, in advance, for helping to make my Mother’s 75th Birthday unforgettable!!!

Lola

Blog Decor
I jazzed up my blog for spring. I was in Vegas all last week and am suffering some serious craft withdrawal. I do have some fun design stuff I'll post later that I found in Vegas.

Cookie Bouquet
So today was the one week anniversary of my friend Kendi's 27th birthday. Catch that? Anyhow, we typically do a little office celebration for birthdays, but since we have been divided in to rival gangs (also known as the red and blue group) we often miss our good buddies birthdays, thus the one week later celebration.
I celebrated the occasion with my first attempt at a cookie bouquet. Here are my supplies.

And here is a little glimpse as to why I'll never have my own cooking/crafting show on the Food Network (which is my new life goal). I am a tornado in the process. Bryan says I leave craft shrapnel everywhere, I say it's how creative people work.

And here is the happy birthday girl, who told me not to post this picture. But what's the point of a birthday-cookie-bouquet-blog-post (whew) if you don't get to see the happy birthday girl enjoying her edible arrangement.

If my husband had a dollar...
If my husband had a dollar for every time I told him I was going to do something like clean the house or put away the laundry and I opted out to do crafts, he would be a rich man.
As I sit in my very, very dirty house, which I am about to clean in just a minute, I am so very proud of my two projects I've completed in the last 24 hours. Most of you know I work half days on Fridays, which is super nice seeing as I occasionally put in 70+ hour work weeks. So after work yesterday I went back to the fabric store for some more practice fabric for my dress patterns. I'm still not 100% loving either dress I've made and am saving my Amy Butler fabric for the perfect dress. Once I get 4-5 completed I am going to post them for a vote. Stay tuned.

So I made this one yesterday afternoon. I do love this dress. I have never tried applique and well, I love it. I will being appliqueing things all over my house from now on. I think it looks like a Flintstones necklace around the neck.

So when I had my success with applique I had to keep going (further delaying my cleaning) and try my first necktie onesie. The great thing about this one is I actually have someone to give it to next weekend. My bible study is having a shower for my friend Amy and she's having a boy. Great timing! Bryan is starting to get super suspicious of all the baby clothes building up.

Like Homemade by Jill writes, where I got the idea, this is instant craft satisfaction. Super easy. Now I must go clean.
